Static Line

Static Line

Static line skydiving is recognized as the most popular and progressive way to learn to skydive.  Many jumpers report a greater thrill or adrenaline rush from doing a solo jump than going with an instructor.

Skydive Kansas City has trained thousands of first time students and 80% of them choose static line. Due to this demand we can now offer great group discounts, call us for details. All of our classes jump the same day, weather permitting.

Training

The static line course lasts approximately 6-7 hours, depending on the size of the class. You will first go through classroom training with a highly experienced USPA certified instructor. The class is an interesting, fun mix of video, instruction, and practical (simulation) training. You will receive in-harness training, enabling you to become completely comfortable with all of your gear. You and your classmates will be given instruction in canopy control, emergency procedures and proper landing techniques. Our large advanced square parachutes enable precision accuracy and soft landings. Upon completion of ground training, you will make your jump, weather permitting.

The Jump

The static line jump is performed from 3,500 feet. The parachute automatically opens by the static line attached to the plane. Upon exit, you will freefall for approximately 500-700 feet. After opening, you will be in constant air to ground radio communication with a certified instructor. You will be able to steer and maneuver your own parachute as if in a glider. The instructor may encourage you to try some 360 turns and practice flares while up high. The parachute flight will last 5-7 minutes until touchdown. The instructor will then guide you in for a soft landing in our large landing area.

After experiencing your first skydive at Skydive Kansas City, you will receive a free log book to record your first jump and a first jump certificate. Your static line instructor will debrief each student personally of their first jump and sign their log book.

Congratulations, you are now a skydiver and future jumps are only $65.00 while you remain current making at least one jump every 30-60 days. You are eligible to go on towards freefall in as little as six jumps and then on to earn your "A" license in our AFP Program.
